Press release

The importance of housing for not only the individuals of Little Burgundy, but also the community.

The residents of Little Burgundy have come together to voice their concerns regarding the proposed housing revamp project throughout Little Burgundy.

Little Burgundy, QC – November 1, 2020

BODY:

The people of Little Burgundy are voicing their displeasure with the recent news of the low income housing project, planning to wipe out a large neighborhood full of housing and its residents. These residents are quite unfavorable towards this action, due to the amount of housing that it would take out. The people of this neighborhood have a strong sense of community, and a strong sense of family. Due to this, they feel as if taking away one’s home is an immoral act, and rightfully so. These hard working citizens look forward to coming to their home each day, to see their friends and family. This proposed project would take away those years of hard work put into these homes, and it would greatly impact this family centered community. The residents of this area are looking to make arrangements to have the housing project be moved away from their small tight knit community.

SPOKESPERSON: This proposed relocation, created by the citizens committee of Little Burgundy, has been brought forth because of the severe impact it would have on the entire community. This group has raised concerns and have brought it multiple times to city hall to try and have the area relocated for the low income housing. Jane Doe made it clear that the people of Little Burgundy needed to have their voices heard, “We made our rights known in the expropriation and our committee recognized, from that, we marched to the city hall and public meetings”. Not only do the citizens actions support the relocation of this project, but also it is reflected in surveys, “survey for expropriation and a relocation by a written questionnaire” came back to be in favor of the relocation of this proposed project.

In addition to Jane Doe voicing her proposed reason to have the project relocated, the entire community of Little Burgundy agree and support this idea. Due to the fact that this community is so tight knit and focuses on relations between one another, it is important that this citizens committee is recognized, hopefully leading to change the mind of those who are in charge of the low income housing project.

BOILERPLATE: The citizens committee of Little Burgundy is a new formed group following the discussions brought up around the low income housing project. This committee has been together for multiple months, presenting their opinions on why the relocation of this project is important. This committee seeks to voice the opinions of each and every individual within Little Burgundy, and making sure that these residents have their thoughts heard by the housing committee. For many months now, the citizens committee aims to have every individuals voice heard to those who have an impact on their residence, and community.
