Communications Plan

In order to highlight the importance of keeping this neighbourhood as it once was, it is imperative that the people of Little Burgundy come together and share their message of what this community means to them. Being able to showcase how close this community is, and how this low income housing project would break that up will hopefully sway the decision to have this project relocated to a different area. While we can see already with how this is a predominately hard working African American community, this blog campaign will help to give additional information and help bring to light exactly how important these homes are to each of the residents. This plan proposes to have not only the residents voice their opinions, but also those of the railway industry, to help highlight how important it is that each and every single worker can come home to their own home and family.

RESEARCH

There is no doubt that each individual deserves to come home to their own home that they have had memories in and family moments that are unreplaceable. According to ABC News, as a result of this added stress of the possibility of losing your home, individuals are more susceptible to end up with anxiety, depression and addictive behaviours. This not only has an impact on the individual, but also his or her other communities, such as the workplace. With how much of a focus this area has on the railway industry, it would be detrimental to their workplaces, to have multiple individuals with the chance of having these mental illnesses. This blog campaign will allow some stress to be relieved, as the residents will be able to make their voices heard. According to researcher Ben Davis, it is important to have your voice heard because you are able to expose yourself to a greater audience of people, allowing for more connections to be made, resulting in having an easier time dealing with stress because your support circle is increased.
